Overview
A chosen source space must be configured to publish pages to a selected target space using the the Target space dropdown menu in the space settings publishing dashboard.
A space that has an existing publishing configuration as a source space or a target space cannot be added as a target space. Selecting a space with an existing publishing configuration disables the Change button and displays a warning message.
Once a target space is added to the source space publishing dashboard Enable Publishing is automatically enabled in the publishing dashboard and the following publishing options are displayed
Copy content properties (by default, set as enabled)
Enable single page publishing (by default, set as enabled)
Space publishing to publish the whole space
Pages can be published
using space publishing to publish a whole space
by a user to publish a page individually
on transition to an applied Comala workflow final state or using a Comala workflow trigger.
Add a target space for publishing
Choose the space settings Publishing dashboard in your source (draft) space.
Choose the Target space dropdown menu to display options for your target space (the published space).
The Target space dropdown menu will automatically display a maximum of 10 spaces
the last 10 spaces accessed by the current user
if less than 10 spaces have been accessed, the menu list will include the last created spaces (to display up to a maximum of 10 in the list)
A space can also be searched by name.
The current user will need to have view and edit permissions for the target space.
Select the target space and choose Save.
An on-screen message will confirm the change in the space configuration.
Adding a target space to the source space publishing dashboard, by default enables the space for publishing and single-page publishing. It also displays the option to publish all the pages in the space.
The target space publishing dashboard also displays confirmation of the successful configuration.
A dialog box will be displayed to a user when editing content in the configured target spaceĀ warning that any changes may be overwritten the next time the content is published (synced) from the draft space.
The information message notification is displayed in the target space when editing an existing page or creating a new page in the target space.
Once publishing features are enabled and the target space added pages can be published
individually by a page editor as a standalone publishing action using the publishing byline to open the publishing popup (single-page publishing)
as a whole space by a space administrator using the Publish space option in the space settings Publishing dashboard.
Content can also be published if a Comala Document Management app is installed a workflow is applied to a page
on a Comala workflow trigger event added to a workflow
Selecting a target space already configured as a publishing source space or target space
A space that is already being used as a source space or target space by Comala Publishing cannot be added as a target space for a different source space.
On selecting a target space in the dropdown menu is already is configured as a source space for publishing or is a target space for another space
the Change button is disabled
a warning message is displayed
Mouse over the warning message to display a popup with a link to the selected space.
If the selected space is required as the target space for the current space, the existing publishing configuration must be cleared from this space.
The following popup is displayed when the selected space has a publishing configuration that is disabled.
If the selected space was previously a target space but the previous publishing and sync has been removed, on choosing the popup link to the selected space publishing dashboard you can either
fix the publishing configuration on the previous named source space
clear the publishing configuration on this selected space
Comala workflow applied in the target space
On publishing a page from the source space to a target space page with an applied workflow, the workflow state on the target space page ONLY changes when the target page workflow state has an Updated transition.
If the target space has a space workflow enabled, pages published for the first time will be set to the initial workflow state for the workflow in the target space.
Workflow activity on a target space page does not change the publishing status
assigning reviewers
approving page content
changing workflow state
unless the action included a page Updated event.
The content properties of any workflow applied in the source space are not published.
