Migrating to Confluence Cloud - Migration options

There are different outcomes for your Comalatech apps depending on how you want to proceed with your Atlassian software.

If you are considering moving to Confluence Cloud please see our features roadmap for our Comala Document Management for Cloud app.

  • we continue to explore implementing Comala Document Management Server features into Cloud, and are aiming for feature parity by 2023 (depending on Atlassian improvements to the platform)

If you are considering moving to Confluence Data Center, our Comala Document Management is a Data Center approved app, but the pricing may make this only viable for licences for 500+ users.

(info) Comalatech will end support for Comala Document Management for Server in February 2024.

Comala Document Management Cloud Features

Comala Document Management Server's wealth of features and functionality has been built over the years on the Atlassian Server platform. Cloud is a much different environment than server, and it is much more difficult to deliver all of Comala Document Management Server features in the cloud.

As part of your migration decision please review the following

(green star) We are proactively developing the features and functionality of our Comala Document Management for Cloud app (depending on Atlassian's own progress with their Cloud platform).

Migration steps

Before committing to a migration, you need to determine if the features currently supported in Comala Document Management for Cloud meet your requirements.

The cloud version of the Comala Document Management app includes a number of bundled workflows, but you will need to review the functionality and features available in these workflows.

However, if you want to use an existing server custom workflow, the process of creating this for cloud is a manual one.

If you need to transition custom approval workflows into the Confluence Cloud platform, this process requires time from our team to prepare each workflow. This should be taken into account when planning for the migration from server to cloud if you require help from us.

Migration Process

(blue star) The Migration Process Steps document takes you through the migration milestones and required tasks.

Workflow History

(star) We do not currently support migration of all workflow historical data, but some information can be moved to the cloud as part of the migration such as the current workflow state. If workflow history is required for audit you may need to consider maintaining your existing server instance in read-only mode.

Page-level restrictions

(star) Any page with view or edit restrictions cannot be included in migration to cloud with the page restrictions in place. You will need to temporarily remove the restrictions to allow migration of these pages to take place without any errors.
