Upgrade Guide to 7.0 - Data Center Only
The planned release of Comala Document Management 7 is for Data Center Only.
This planned release includes a new, improved capability called Document Activity that replaces the existing Page Activity.
Comala Document Management v6.17+ for server and data center includes the option to run pre-upgrade checks. The option to upgrade the data is only available in Comala Document Management 7.
A guide to upgrading to the data center only app will be available on release on Comala Document Management 7 Q1 2023.
Pre-upgrade checks
Pre-upgrade checks do not require you to enable Read Only mode. These can be undertaken in both the data center and server app installs of Comala Document Management from v6.17+
The pre-upgrade checks allow you to
validate that you will be able to upgrade
estimate how long it will take to undertake the upgrade so that these can be planned as part of your maintenance periods
identify upgrade errors for specific pages in each space and produce a support package to review the validation checks
Both the pre-upgrade checks and the upgrade can be executed on a space-by-space basis to minimize the impact on your end users.
Further instructions for the upgrade will be provided when Comala Document Management 7.0 is released Q1 2023.
The following are available in Comala Document Management v6.17+ (data center and server) to allow pre-upgrade validation and planning prior to the release of Comala Document Management 7.0+

NOW | The Document Activity Upgrade Console is available prior to the upgrade of your data to run pre-upgrade checks. |
NOW | Users can continue working with Comala Document Management and choose the time of upgrade after the release of Comala Document Management 7.0 |
SUSTAINABILITY | Data will continue to be stored in XML format for the life of Comala Document Management 7.0 and a recovery path will be available |
ROBUSTNESS | When upgrading, the upgrade is set as complete or not complete at the page level. If errors are detected in the upgrade process, no data is committed to the new AO (Active Objects) format |
IN-APP SUPPORT | The Document Activity Upgrade Console enables admins to check the status of the upgrade for each space across their instance. |
UPGRADE HELP | Pre-upgrade check validation errors are recorded in a downloadable Support Package that you can attach to a support request. This is added to the space listed with an error in the Document Activity Upgrade Console. |
