The Approved state can be set to expire on a set date (and time), this is called a Due Date (or an Expiry Date).
To set an expiry date for the Approved state, the content must be in this approvalstate.
In the in the approval popup open the Set Due Date dialog box by choosing either
the clock icon
the Set due date option from the popup ellipsis menu
In the Set Due Date dialog option set the due date (and time) and select Save.
A due date needs to be added each time the approval workflow transitions to the Approved state.
The due date is only active for the content when it is in the Approved state
If the latest content is a draft version (content is in one of the approval workflow draft states), the approved version does not have any expiry.
Icon colour
The clock icon in the approval workflow popup will change color to indicate the current status of the due date.
If a due date has been added the icon will include details of the current time period before the Approved state content expires.

What happens when a page expires?
The page will return (transition) to the Review state. The change will be shown in the page activity and watchers will receive a notification.
