You can change between different apps in the Comala Documents Family if your needs change.
Only one app from the Comala Document Management Family of apps should be installed and enabled on a Confluence Server instance at any one time.
- to change between different products please uninstall your existing app and then install the new one
We also recommend that in a Cloud instance only one app is installed and enabled. If changing the Cloud app, workflow history is not retained and must be backed up prior to uninstalling the existing app.
Please keep the following in mind when switching between apps
History and Settings
On the Server/Data Center platform
- the workflow history created with the previous app will be retained and be visible in the new app
- if a global or space level setting applies in the new application it will generally keep the same value as it had in the previous app
On the Cloud platform
- the workflow history created with the previous app is not retained but must be exported for each space and loaded after installing the new different app
- if a global or space level setting applies in the new application it will generally keep the same value as it had in the previous app
If you are migrating from server to cloud, due to limitations in Atlassian Confluence Cloud the full workflow history is not currently retained. If you are migrating from server to cloud please contact our Migration Team.
Workflow Changes
- If you are moving to a product with more features Comala Document Approval → Comala Document Control → Comala Document Management, the workflows that were previously applied to your spaces and pages will still be active.
- If you are moving to a product with less features Comala Document Management → Comala Document Control → Comala Document Approval, workflows that were previously active on pages and space will no longer be active. You must use the workflows that are included with the product that is installed.
If you are migrating from server to cloud please contact our Migration Team.

- Trial licenses can be generated from the Atlassian marketplace
