Overview

A page or blog post in the Review state or Rejected state can be reviewed and approved by a user. A successful approval transitions the workflow to the Approved state.

The workflow popup displays

  • confirmation of the approval process

  • button link to the Activity report for the page workflow events and actions

The page or blog post in the Approved state will transition to the Review state on

  • updating the page or blog post

  • reaching a set date when the content is set to have expired

There is no other option to transition the page from the Approved state to another state in the applied workflow.

Approved content expiry

The Approved state can be set to expire on a set date (and time), this is called a Due Date (or an Expiry Date).

The due date is only active for the content when it is in the Approved state(blue star) If the latest content is a draft version (content is in one of the approval workflow draft states), the approved version does not have any expiry

Tip

Choose the ellipsis menu in the workflow popup to view the Activity Report for the page.

The clock icon in the approval workflow popup will change color to indicate the current status of the due date.

The Approved state is not set to expire, but you can manually add an expiry date

The Approved state will expire in 3 or more days

The Approved state will expire in less than 3 days

The Approved state has expired.

(red star) This red expired icon will only be shown if the expiry occurs whilst viewing the content. When the content is reloaded or visited after the expiry date an approval workflow transition will have occurred to the Review state.

What happens when a page expires?

The page will return (transition) to the Review state. The change will be shown in the page activity and watchers will receive a notification.
