There are two content change transitions

updated transition
If an updated transition has been added to a state, then any content change (editing, label change, adding or removing an attachment) editing the content will cause a transition event. The destination state will be unique to the state where the updated transition is present.

In the published (final state) Approved state in the basic Approval workflow, if the content is edited and saved, the page will move to the draft state Review

Another content change transition that is used in some of the workflow states is the expiry transition.
In the Content Expiry workflow, the Approved state has an expiry period set on the transition into the state.

In some workflow states, the expiry date can be edited by a user in the workflow popup.
Both an expired and an updated transition can be together in the same state.

A content change transition may also be used together in a state with an existing content review transition.
